Apostelbräu “Chuck’s Barrel” and Leonel „Terre Rouge“

Apostelbräu “Chuck’s Barrel” 7,0 vol. wood barrel aged in Original Tennessee Jack Daniels Barrel
Leonel „Terre Rouge“ Belicoso (with Test Review)

It is a homage to one of the Pionier of Rock n` Roll: Chuck Berry

Color: cloudy gold yellow or darker Amber
Nose: sweet malty, a little fruit reminds me at an Orange, a touch of yeast, a little wood
First Sip: fizzy but earthy, wood, a little sour touch, a little lemon/citrus
Mouth: now you have discreet Bourbon sweet touch, little caramel, a little malty, fizzy because of a lot of carbon acid, medium body, a little fruity
At the End: at the beginning fruity malty, a hint of lemon, after that yeast and wood, a hint of roasted malt. The tongue gets dry very fast and you want the next sip. Yummy

Conclusion: At the first sip it is a nice fizzy beer. A little late you have a nice Bourbon sweetish and wooden touch. The body is light to medium. At the end it gets a little dry but still fizzy because of quiet a lot of carbon acid. I liked the beer even if I have to give deductions in the B note because what i´m missing is more Bourbon Whiskey or lets say the Whiskey touch. Because I don´t know how long it aged in the Barrel but I would say give it a few more month even if the beer gets a little more expensive.
Now at about 8 degree Celsius the Bourbon sweetish touch is a lot more present. Very nice. Yummy

This beer and a cigar? Yes – but I would recommend the medium to full-body cigars

Leonel “Terre Rouge” Belicoso 4 Tester
1x again and again oblique burn
lx sensations are summarized
Cold: perfect draught, nougat, chocolate, wood, earth, licorice
First third: perfect draught, full-bodied, full-flavoured/spicy, licorice, pepper, chocolate, honey sweetish, a little espresso, a little toast.
Second third: perfect draught, coffee, earthy, full-flavoured/spicy but a little less, chocolate, a little pepper, cold coffee, creamy sweet, a hint of cinnamon, walnut, chocolate cookies.
Last third: perfect draught, now more full-flavoured/spicy again, cookies, nougat, still creamy, Nut, toast, earth, licorice, caramel and dark chocolate.
Points: 87,5 but only because of the bad burn of one of the cigars. We all would smoke the cigar again no doubt.

Apostelbräu “Chuck’s Barrel” 7,0 vol. Holzfassgereift in Original Tennessee Jack Daniels Barrel

Leonel „Terre Rouge“ Belicoso 4Tester
1x immer wieder etwas Schiefbrand

Perfekt, Nougat, Schokolade, Holz, Erde, Lakritz
Erstes Drittel: Perfekter Zug, vollmundig, würzig, Lakritz, Pfeffer, Schokolade, Honig süße, leichte Espresso Noten, schöner voller Rauch, etwas Toast.
Zweites Drittel: Perfekter Zug, Kaffee, erdig, würzig aber leicht nachlassend, Schokolade, leichter Pfeffer, kalter Kaffee, cremig Süß, leichte Zimt Noten, Walnuss, Choco Cookies.

Apostelbräu „Roggen“ and Leonel „Terre Rouge“

Apostelbräu „Roggen“  (rye) 5,3% vol.
Leonel „Terre Rouge“

Color: cloudy very nice brown/mahogany
Nose: fresh floral smell, a nice sour touch, Bread crust, decent smell of malt. The smell is different all together but nice.
First Sip: fresh, totally different than expected but very pleasant, rye sour dough,  a hint of spices (nutmeg ?)
Mouth: a malty sweetness more a hint of it, paired with a nice sour touch and some spices. A touch of caramel. Quiet a lot of carbon acid. The body is not rich but also not watery. I liked it.
At the End: It is a little like in the Mouth, all the flavor is stays on the tongue. A little yeast and hop arrives. Now at the end of the glass with about 14 degree Celsius the rye taste stay very long. Nice

Conclusion: If you never had a rye beer before it is a new and different taste. Unusual but nice. For me the beer is more a summer beer than a winter beer because of it´s light body with the sour touch.
If you don´t like Weissbeer try this one but don´t drink it to cold because you get a little more aroma out of it.

This beer and a cigar? Yes – I would say even the light ones.

Leonel “Terre Rouge” – I will do a tasting with some friends for you the next week or so.

Apostelbräu „Roggen“ 5,3% vol.
Leonel „Terre Rouge“

Farbe: trübes schönes braun/oder schönes Mahagoni
Nase: frischer blumiger Geruch, leichte angenehme säuerliche Note, Brotkruste, dezenter Malzgeruch.
