Color: very nice light cloudy light-brown to copper
Nose: mainly grain Aroma
First Sip: fizzy, full-bodied with lot of grain and a nice little hint of sourness
Mouth: a nice spicy touch with dark roasted malt aroma, still a lot of grain and a very little fruit. Very good
At the End: long, grain and a little malty sweetness with a touch of sourness

Conclusion: A very nice beer, well done. If I had the choice between a standard dark Weißbeer and this one I would choose the Apostelbräu „Emmer“

This beer and a cigar? Yes – no hops bitterness and a discreet sweetness. I would say you could also smoke light cigars.

Farbe: wunderschönes leicht trübes hellbraun bis Kupfer
Nase: überwiegend Getreide Noten
Antrunk: spritzig, vollmundig nach Getreide mit einem Hauch Säure.
Gaumen: schöne würzige Noten mit dunklem Malz Aroma, weiterhin viel Getreide ganz leichte fruchtige Noten. Echt ein klasse.
Abgang: Lang und voll, Getreide und leichte Malz süße. Ein Hauch Säure.

Fazit: Ein wirklich sehr gelungenes Bier. Hätte ich die Wahl zwischen einem dunklen Standard Weißbier und diesem würde ich immer dieses Bier vorziehen. Echt Klasse

Passt das Bier zur Zigarre? Ja – Es hat null Hopfen Bitterkeit und eine feine Süße. Passt also auch sehr gut zu den milden Zigarren.

The beer was aged three months in bourbon, rum and tequila barrels. From this, Braumeister Dück created a flavor-intensive cuvée beer.

Color: clear Brown like caramelized sugar
Nose: dried-fruit, sweet malt aroma, caramel, Vanilla, Bourbon
First Sip: yummy, creamy, tenuous fizzy, the first sip is like the nose with a little hops and a tenuous sour touch. Hmmmm
Mouth: still this wonderful aroma of dried-fruit, Vanilla, Toffee, Bourbon Whiskey. Super good
At the End: long, fruity, malty with tenuous hops. Yummy

Conclusion: A very nice Bock beer. Very nice fruit Aroma from the nose till the end. The first Sip is creamy but that gets a little lost during the way and yes there are more creamy Bock beers out there but this less creamy touch makes it a Bock beer for all seasons. For me a “must have tried” beer.

This beer and a cigar? YES !!


Principle Cigars „Aviator“ Cochon Volant

Last Third: black coffee, grass, a little mint, a little spicy but discreet, leather, sweet red pepper, butter, Truffle oil, bitter sweet chocolate, cappuccino, almonds, orange peel.

Conclusion: A dream of a cigar we all said. So it will be a cigar that has to be in our humidor.
Smoking time: 70-80 min. Strengths: 2-5/7

Das Bier hat drei Monate Lagerzeit in Bourbon-, Rum- und Tequila-Fässern hinter sich. Daraus schuf Braumeister Dück ein aromaintensives Cuvée-Bier.

Farbe: klares braun wie karamellisierter Zucker
Nase: Dörrobst, süßliche Malzaromen, Karamell, Vanille, Bourbon
Antrunk: Lecker, cremig, fein moussierend, der Antrunk ist fast wie die Nase, etwas Hopfen und eine ganz leichte Säure. Hmmm 
Gaumen: weiterhin einfach diese wunderbaren Aromen von Dörrobst, Vanille, Rosinen, Toffee, Bourban Whisky. Super schön
Abgang: Lang, fruchtig, malzig und feiner Hopfen. Sehr lecker

Fazit: Super lecker Bock Bier. Sehr schöne Frucht Aromen die sich von der Nase bis zum Abgang durchziehen. Der Antrunk ist schön cremig welches dann etwas nachlässt, da gibt es Bockbiere die cremiger sind aber gerade deshalb kann man dieses Bier zu jeder Jahreszeit trinken. Für mich ein klares „muß man getrunken haben“.

Passt es zur Zigarre? JA !!

Kalt: Leder, Pfeffer, würzig, leichte Schärfe, Espresso, grünes frisches Gras, Heu.

Erstes Drittel: Cremig, Karamell, frische gemahlene Kaffeebohnen, rote süße Paprika, Schokobrownie, Brot vom Grill, Erdnussbutter, Minze.

Zweites Drittel: Honig, Toast, Cremig, Holz, Walnuss, Zimt, Rosmarin, leicht salzig, Erde, Rum Noten, Zeder, getrocknete Feigen.

Drittes Drittel: Schwarzer Kaffee, Gras, ein wenig Minze, leichte Schärfe aber nie aufdringlich. Leder, rote süße Paprika, Butter, Trüffel Öl, Bitterschokolade, Cappuccino, Mandeln, Orangenschale.

Fazit: Ein Traum von einer Zigarre ist die Meinung aller Tester. Sie wird ein fester Bestandteil im Humidor sein. Stärke: 3-5/7 Rauchdauer: 70-80 min

Today i have the penultimate Steamworks beer we have available in Germany  and I have reviewed. Only the Jasmine IPA is missing. But today the Killer Cucumber is a perfect beer for 30 degrees outside. This is my favorite summer Ale.

Color: straw to gold yellow
Nose: Wow the Name says it all. Cucumber, salt, pepper, fruit (melon and a little citrus)
First Sip: straight away it´s refreshing on the tongue. Cucumber, Melon, a little malt with a touch of salt. SUPER
Mouth: Cucumber, still a little malt, pepper, hint of salt and unbelievable refreshing for a beer. Nice amount of carbon acid with a little sour touch. Brilliant
At the End: The cucumber runs through to the end. A little fruit mixed with a hint of hops. A little sourness that gives the beer the refreshing touch at the end. I Love It

Conclusion: You are looking for a summer beer? Here it is. The killer Cucumber is for me one of the perfect summer beers. Even with <5% cucumber in the beer but you can taste from beginning to end. I have not drunk another cucumber beer yet but I find this beer simply brilliant.

This beer and a cigar? YES – That simple it is.


Bespoke Traditional Line “Cotton Tail” Figurado
Filler: Dom. Rep., Nicaragua, USA Binder: Dom. Rep. Wrapper: Brasilien

Cold: Earth, tobacco, cedar, little salt and a hint of spices

First Third: Hazelnut, caramelized sugar, cashew, leather, grain, nutty is the main aroma, cream, peanut, tea.

Second Third: spices, white pepper, red pepper powder, mustard seed, little chili, leather, calk, bitter chocolate, truffle, rosemary, forest earth, green grasses, cream.

Last Third: roasted almonds, cloves, cinnamon, roasted coffee beans, little butter note, olive, cream, grass, earth, peanut, a very little ammonia (but not that it is unpleasant)

Conclusion: A very fine cigar. A must taste cigar. Also a little time in the humidor makes it even better.

Heute das vorletzte Steamworks das es aktuell in Deutschland gibt welches ich reviewe. Aber es passt heute einfach zum Wetter. 30 Grad auf dem Balkon – perfekt. Mein Sommer ALE Nummer 1 !!

Farbe: Stroh bis gold gelb
Nase: Wow der Name ist Programm. Gurke, Salz, Pfeffer, Frucht (Melone und etwas Citrus Früchte)
Antrunk: Sofort erfrischend auf der Zunge, Gurke, Melone, leicht malzig mit einem Hauch Salz. SUPER
Gaumen: Gurke, weiter minimal malzig, Pfeffer, etwas Salz, unheimlich erfrischend. Schöne Karbonisierung und leichte Säure. GENIAL
Abgang: Die Gurke zieht sich durch bis zum Ende. Etwas Frucht gemischt mit ganz wenig Hopfen. Etwas Säure die einen wunderbaren frischen Nachhall hat. I love it.

Fazit: Du suchst ein Sommer Bier? Hier ist es. Das Killer Cucumber ist für mich eines der perfekten Sommer Biere. Auch wenn <5% Gurke im Bier sind so schmeckt man Sie von Anfang bis Ende. Ich habe zwar noch kein anderes Gurken Bier getrunken aber ich finde dieses Bier einfach Genial.
Passt das Bier zur Zigarre? JA – ganz einfach!!

Alle Empfindungen /Geschmacksnotizen sind zusammen gefasst

Kalt: Erde, Tabak, Zeder, leicht salzig mit feiner Würze.

Erstes Drittel: Haselnuss, karamellisierter Zucker, Cashew, Leder, Getreide, Generell stehen nussige Aromen im Vordergrund, Erdnüsse, Creme, Tee

Zweites Drittel: dominieren Gewürze, weißer Pfeffer, rote Paprikapulver, Senfkörner, leichter Chili, Leder, Kreide, Bitterschokolade, Trüffel, Rosmarin, Walderde, grüne Gräser, Creme

Drittes Drittel: Gebrannte Mandel, Nelken, Zimt, geröstete Kakaobohnen, leichte Butternoten, Oliven, Creme, Gras, Erde, Erdnuss, ganz leicht Amoniak (aber nicht unangenehm)

Fazit: Eine wunderbare Zigarre die man probiert haben sollte. Auch ein wenig Lagerung macht Sie noch besser.

AND UNION „FRIDAY IPA” and Blanco “Nine”

Blanco “Nine” Torpedo

Color: wonderful copper
Nose: wow very nice peach and a little mandarin as well as a little malt and hops
First Sip: fruity like mandarin then the sweetish malty touch and the hops. At the first sip the hops are very present on the next ones it´s nicely well balanced. 
Mouth: fine fizzle. Really nice full-bodied, spicy and still mandarin and peach. Malty sweetness with a nice hops aroma
At the End: a little more hops but the sweetness of the malt and the fruit provide a nice balance.

Conclusion: For me it´s a nice IPA. What I don´t like is if the hops and the lemon is to dominant. What I like is slightly dry beer but with sweet malt and all kinds of fruit (apart from to much lemon) to balance the beer. This beer is a nice start into the weekend. Like the name already says – FRIDAY

This beer and a cigar? Yes apart from the very mild ones. But from medium to strong or spicy it´s fine.


Blanco “Nine” Torpedo
Filler/Binder/Wrapper: Nicaragua

Cold: Earth, Cedar, Pine, light to medium pull, moist soil, pepper, leaves

First Third: green grass, dandelion, little peanut, cashew, cedar, a little pepper, leather, milk, wood

Second Third: Espresso, little leather, little mineral, wood touch, chocolate, cocoa

Last Third: caramelized sugar, cocoa, little milk cream, green pepper, spicy

Conclusion: The strength was rated totally different. From 1-6 of 7. Also the taste. From must have to not my cup of tea. I liked the cigar very much.

Farbe: wunderbares klares Kupfer
Nase: wow riecht klasse nach Pfirsich und etwas Mandarine sowie etwas Malz und Hopfen
Antrunk: fruchtig nach Mandarine dann die süßlich malzige Note und der Hopfen. Beim ersten Antrunk kommt der Hopfen stärker durch danach ist alles schön lecker ausbalanciert.
Gaumen: feine Perlung. Richtig schön vollmundig, würzig und weiterhin Mandarine und Pfirsich. Malzig süßlich mit schönen Hopfenaromen.
Abgang: etwas mehr Hopfen doch die süße vom Malz und das fruchtige sorgen für einen schönen Ausgleich

Fazit: Für mich persönlich ein gelungenes IPA. Ich mag es wenn es nicht zu sehr von Hopfen oder Zitrone dominiert wird. Was ich aber mag ist dieses leicht herbe aber dann durch malzige und fruchtige Noten ausgeglichene Bier. Einfach echt lecker. Passt wie der Name schon sagt als Abschluss an eine Woche. FRIDAY eben.

Passt das Bier zur Zigarre? Ja – passt gut zur Zigarre. Ok nicht zu den ganz leichten milden Zigarren aber ab medium mit etwas Würze sehr gut.


Blanco “Nine” Torpedo

Alle Empfindungen /Geschmacksnotizen sind zusammen gefasst
Kalt: Erde, Zeder, Pinie, mittlerer Zug, feuchte Erde, Pfeffer, Laub

Erstes Drittel: Grünes Gras, Löwenzahn, leichte Erdnuss, Cashew, Zeder, ein wenig Pfeffer, Leder, Milch, Holz

Zweites Drittel: Espresso, leichtes Leder, etwas mineralisch, holzige Nuancen, Schokolade, Kakao

Drittes Drittel: karamellisierter Zucker, Kakao, etwas Milchcreme, grüne Paprika, würzig,

Fazit: Die Stärke fällt hier komplett unterschiedlich aus. Von 1-6 von 7. Auch geschmacklich von sehr gut (muß ich haben) bis naja nicht meins. Mir hat die Blanco Nine sehr gut geschmeckt.

Camacho „Criollo“ Robusto

Color: cloudy gold yellow

Nose: beautiful yeast and a lot banana. A Typical Weizen with a touch Citrus

First Sip: full-bodied and yet fresh, the hint of citrus accompanied the yeast and banana. Nice

Mouth: fizzy and fresh with a touch sourness. Very nice and refreshing. In the background a slightly spicy note.

At the End: This slightly spicy note is even better in the finish also the sourness is more present next to banana, yeast and a touch citrus. Very Nice

Conclusion: A wonderful fresh and fizzy but full-bodied beer. The sourness makes it very interesting and yummy. A great beer for the time - late spring to early autumn.

This beer and a cigar? YES – A Weizen or Weißbeer is always fine with a cigar because of it´s sweet touch. The touch of sourness also helps very mild cigars to bring out some more aroma. Just great


Camacho „Criollo“ Robusto
I´m not a Fan of Honduras cigars but this one was better as I thought. A full review will follow

FINNE „Weizen“ Bio Craft Beer 5,2% vol.

Camacho „Criollo“ Robusto

Farbe: trübes Goldgelb

Nase: Schön hefig, und viel Banane. Typisch Weizen mit einem Hauch Citrus

Antrunk: vollmundig und doch frisch. Der Hauch Citrus untermalt die Hefe und Banane. Lecker

Gaumen: Spritzig und frisch mit etwas Säure. Sehr lecker und erfrischend. Im Hintergrund eine leicht würzige Note.

Abgang: Diese leicht würzige Note ist noch besser im Abgang zu vernehmen. Auch die Säure kommt noch mehr zur Geltung neben Banane, Hefe und etwas Citrus. Einfach Klassse

Fazit: Ein wunderbares frisches spritziges aber doch vollmundiges Bier. Die Säure macht es sehr interessant und lecker. Tolles Bier genau passend zur Jahreszeit später Frühling bis früher Herbst. Klare Empfehlung.

Passt dieses Bier zur Zigarre? Ja – Ein Weizen passt einfach auf Grund der süßlichen Note super zur Zigarre. Die Säure unterstützt auch ganz milde Zigarren wunderbar.

 Camacho „Criollo“ Robusto
Bin ja kein Fan von Honduras Zigarren aber ich fand die Zigarre viel besser wie erwartet. Ein ausführlicher Blind Test wird folgen.

Tilmans „Das Helle“ and Culture Dominican Belicoso

I anticipate a part of a conclusion: If you tried “Das Helle” you never drink a standard Helles again. This one is a perfect “Helles”

Color: wonderful clear amber
Nose: very nice fresh and fruity aroma of Peach, Mango and Mandarin. Nicely malty and some discreet hops. You are really looking forward to the first sip.
First Sip: fresh, fruity is the first Sip. The first sip is like the Nose. Discreet sweetness from the malt paired with some hops. Just Great
Mouth: wonderful fine moussing. Smooth and quaffable mouth feeling without being to watery. A little more malt, herbs, a little sour touch, the hops are present but not dominating. Wonderful play between hops and malt. Simply round and very delicious
At the End: A little more sourness, also a little more hops at the beginning but it gets balanced by the fruit and the malt, so that the beer is unbelievable well balanced.

Conclusion: I said it in the first way but this is the best Helles I ever tried. I also would say you find with every sip a new aroma. As i´m at the end and have only a little in the glass I also taste a very little salt. Phenomenally genius Helles beer.

This beer and a cigar? Yes – with the Culture Dominican as a mild but spicy cigar a fits very well.


Culture Dominican Belicoso
Filler: Dom. Rep., Binder: Dom. Rep., Wrapper: Connecticut Shade

All impressions summarized

Cold: perfect pull, leather, mild nutty aroma and a little grain.

First Third: pepper, leather, smoke, crème, earth, spices, first few pull with a little touch of pepper, cedar wood, elegant crème, little chestnut and green pepper.

Second Third: mild, less pepper, crème, earth, a little café au lait, very spicy, peppercorns, mustard, a little sweetness (rock sugar), crème still present, little gray truffle, little chilli.

Last Third: nutty, even more crème, spicy but less pepper, Complex minerality, roasted cocoa beans, dark chocolate, Crème Brulee, Mint, sage, balsamico.

Conclusion: A wonderful cigar. But those who are now expecting a typical representative from the Dominican Republic will be very surprised. The cigar is mild but spicy, which is often not associated with Dominican cigars.
I would also like to thank the testers for their work, especially this time my thanks go to Niko and his unbelievable palate. I think Nico has already bitten into everything and smelled of everything to memorize the taste. :-)

Ich nehme mal gleich einen Teil meines Fazits vorweg: Wer dieses Helles getrunken hat, trinkt kein Standard Helles mehr wenn er nicht muß. Einfach Perfekt „Das Helle“

Farbe: wunderschöner klarer Bernstein
Nase: sehr schöne fruchtige frische Aromen nach Pfirsich, Mango, Mandarine. Angenehm malzig und dezenter Hopfen. Da freut man sich unglaublich auf den ersten Schluck.
Antrunk: frisch, fruchtig ist der Antrunk. Der Antrunk gibt die Nase wieder. Dezente Süße vom Malz gepaart mit ein klein wenig Hopfen. Einfach SUPER
Gaumen: wunderbar fein moussierend. Weiches, süffiges Mundgefühl ohne dabei dünn zu sein. Etwas mehr Malz, Kräuter, ganz leichte Säure, der Hopfen ist da ist aber nicht dominant. Wunderbares Spiel zwischen Malz und Hopfen. Einfach Rund und sau lecker
Abgang: Etwas mehr feine Säure, auch etwas mehr Hopfen im ersten Moment wird dann aber von der Frucht und dem Malz wieder ausgebremst, so das dieses Bier einfach unglaublich ausgewogen und rund ist. Einfach Genial

Fazit: Ich sagte es schon vorweg es ist für mich das beste Helle das ich bisher getrunken habe. Ich behaupte sogar das man jedes Mal etwas neues an Aromen entdeckt. Ich habe gerade für mich am Ende des Glases einen Hauch Salz vernommen. Phänomenal Genial Helles Bier. 

Passt dieses Bier zur Zigarre? Ja – Und zur milden aber würzigen Culture passt dieses Bier wunderbar.


Culture Dominican Belicoso

Alle Empfindungen /Geschmacksnotizen sind zusammen gefasst

Kalt: perfekter Zug, Leder, milde nussige Aromen mit leichtem Getreide.

Erstes Drittel: Pfeffer, Leder, Rauch, Cremig, Erde, würzig, erste Züge mittelkräftig mit leichten schwarzen Pfeffernoten, Zedernholz. Elegante Creme, leicht Kastanie und grüne Paprika.

Zweites Drittel: mild, weniger Pfeffer, cremig, Erde, leichter Milchkaffee, sehr würzig, Pfefferkörner, Senf, leichte Süße (Kandis), Creme noch sehr präsent, Leicht Trüffel, etwas Chili.

Letztes Drittel: Nussig, milder, noch cremiger, würzig aber weniger Pfeffer, komplexe Mineralität, Kakaobohnen (geröstet), Bitterschokolade, Creme Brulee, Minze, Salbei, Balsamico

Fazit: Eine wunderbare Zigarre. Aber wer jetzt einen typischen Vertreter aus der Dominikanischen Republik erwartet wird sehr überrascht sein. Die Zigarre ist zwar mild aber dafür würzig was ja oft nicht mit Dominikanischen Zigarren in Verbindung gebracht wird.
Ich möchte mich hier auch mal für die Arbeit der Tester bedanken besonders dieses Mal bei Nico und seinen unglaublichen Geschmacksknospen. Ich glaube Niko hat schon in alles gebissen und an allem gerochen um sich den Geschmack einzuprägen. :-)

This beer and a cigar? Yes – I would say with all kind of cigar. The sweetness with the little sour touch fits well with mild cigars. With the Balmoral I would call it perfect.

Gaumen: Rund, vollmundig, ausgewogene Kohlensäure, mehr Rauch sonst wie im Antrunk. Genial
Abgang: süßlich malzig, rauchig, Fruchtnoten sowie Honig und minimale Säure. Hopfen? Tja ich vernehme keinen. Geil

Fazit: Ich ziehe den Hut! Ein phänomenales sehr rundes Bier.

Passt dieses Bier zur Zigarre? JA – hier mag ich behaupten das es zu allen Zigarren passt. Die Süße mit der leichten Säure passt sehr gut zu leichten Zigarren ohne sie zu überlagen. Zur Balmoral passt diese Bier perfekt. Hier ist das Bier ein echter Allrounder.
